Other Types of Fees & Expenses ADV Part 2A – Firm Brochure Page 5 J. L. Perkins Wealth Management Schwab does not charge transaction fees for U.S. listed equities and exchange traded funds. Clients may pay holdings charges imposed by the chosen custodian for certain investments, charges imposed directly by a mutual fund, index fund, or exchange traded fund, which shall be disclosed in the fund’s prospectus (i.e., fund management fees, initial or deferred sales charges, mutual fund sales loads, 12b-1 fees, surrender charges, variable annuity fees, IRA and qualified retirement plan fees, and other fund expenses), mark-ups and mark-downs, spreads paid to market makers, fees for trades executed away from custodian, wire transfer fees and other fees and taxes on brokerage accounts and securities transactions. Our firm does not receive a portion of these fees. Termination & Refunds Either party may terminate the advisory agreement signed with our firm in writing at any time. Upon notice of termination pro-rata advisory fees for services rendered to the point of termination will be charged. If advisory fees cannot be deducted, our firm will send an invoice for due advisory fees to the client. Commissionable Securities Sales Persons providing investment advice on behalf of our firm are also licensed as independent insurance agents. These persons may earn commission-based compensation for selling insurance products, including insurance products they sell to you. Insurance commissions earned by these persons are separate and in addition to our advisory fees. This practice presents a conflict of interest because persons providing investment advice on behalf of the firm, who are insurance agents, have an incentive to recommend insurance products to you for the purpose of generating commissions rather than solely based on your needs. This conflict in no way removes the firm’s fiduciary duty to our clients. You are under no obligation, contractually or otherwise, to purchase insurance products through any person affiliated with our firm. The firm maintains internal policies that any insurance policy being proposed must be in the client's best interest, and this analysis must include comparisons to commission-free policies, when available. |
