Item 5 - Fees And Compensation
aLuman is compensated for its services solely by its clients. Neither aLuman nor its employee sell any products. Nor
does aLuman give compensation to any outside advisors or service providers.
Asset Management
This fee schedule is the most commonly used fee structure and is the default unless by mutual agreement another method
is preferred.
Assets under Management Annual Fee
First $1ml 0.95%
Next $2ml 0.70%
Next $2ml 0.50%
Next $5 ml 0.30%
Over $10ml 0.25%
While this fee is specifically for asset management, in the normal course of business and in most cases, it will also be
sufficient for ongoing comprehensive financial planning. We will not include your unmanaged or static assets when
calculating our advisory fee. We will group certain related client accounts for the purposes of determining the annual
fee. A client’s aggregated accounts will be identified in an addendum to the Advisory Agreement.
Fees are billed monthly in arrears based upon the average daily balance (market value) of the account during the
month. For any partial month, the fee will be prorated based upon the number of days the account was open during
the month.
Financial Planning and Hourly Fees
Should it be agreeable to both parties, financial planning fees can be arranged between $1,500 and $5,000 depending
on the scope, complexity, and time required. After we have estimated the time and work involved, we use our hourly
fee rate as a component for determining the fixed fee. Hourly fees can also be arranged for special projects at a rate
of $250 an hour. Payment can be made by check/ACH bank transfer or credit card. With ACH bank transfers, we
will use an independent 3rd party payment processor in which the client can securely input their banking information
and pay the fee through their own secure portal. aLuman does not have continuous access to any client’s banking
information. Clients pay fees through one-time payment requests for each billing period.
Financial planning fees are separate and distinct from asset management fees. There is no overlap in financial
planning and portfolio management services. Financial planning fees will be offset for related advisory services of
assets being managed by aLuman.
If a client terminates the financial planning service before the financial plan or analysis has been completed, we will
deliver the work completed thus far to the client.
Asset Management fees are billed monthly in arrears. These fees are generally deducted directly from an investment
account. Financial planning and hourly fees are billed at the time of delivery of service. All clients receive an invoice
or receipt of payment.
Retirement Planning
Assets Under Management Annualized Fee
First $1,000,000 0.95%
Next $2,000,000 0.70%
Next $2,000,000 0.50%
Next $5,000,000 0.30%
Over $10,000,000 0.25%
The Adviser shall be paid the following fee for the performance of its services pursuant to this Retirement Plan
Advisory and Consulting Agreement. Fees are billed monthly in arrears based upon the average daily balance
(market value) of the account during the month. For any partial month, the fee will be prorated based upon the
number of days the account was open during the month.
Quick Start Service
For a $600 flat fee, aLuman offers a Quick Start Service, which provides a streamlined financial planning option. This
service allows clients to select up to two financial planning modules from the comprehensive planning options outlined
in Item 4, instead of undergoing full financial planning.
Limited Negotiability of Advisory Fees: Although we have established the aforementioned fee schedules, we retain the
discretion to negotiate alternative fees on a client-by-client basis. Client facts, circumstances and needs are considered,
including factors such as the complexity of the client and assets to be placed under management, among other factors.
The specific annual fee schedule is identified in the contract between the adviser and each client.
Grandfathering of Minimum Account Requirements: Pre-existing advisory clients are subject to aLuman’s minimum
account requirements and advisory fees in effect at the time the client entered into the advisory relationship.
Therefore, our firm's minimum account requirements and fees may differ among clients.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RELATING TO FEES CHARGED
Fees charged by aLuman do not include any internal expenses of mutual funds or any transaction charges levied by
account custodians. Most of these investments incur transaction charges which are automatically added to the purchase
cost or deducted from the sales cost when a transaction is made. The section of this Brochure describing brokerage
practices gives further information. Subsection (j) of Rule 260.238, California Code of Regulations requires that all
investments advisers disclose to their advisory clients that lower fees for comparable services may be available from
other sources. |
