Item 5 – Fees and Compensation
A Our Fees. True North Advisors typically provides ongoing portfolio management and financial
planning services to its clients as a combined service. These services typically include the analysis
of the client’s current portfolio, development of an investment policy statement, implementation of
a recommended portfolio(s), ongoing monitoring of the investment portfolio(s), and the preparation
and periodic update and review of the client’s financial plan. True North Advisors charges annual
asset-based advisory fees for this combined service that typically vary between 0.40% and 1.00%
per year of the market value of the assets you place under our management. These fees are charged
quarterly in advance and are pro-rated for partial billing periods at the commencement or
termination of the advisory relationship based on the number of days the account was open during
the subject quarter. The fee is based on the market value of your account at the end of the prior
quarter.
For purposes of calculating our asset-based advisory fees, market value means the value of all
assets in your account, not adjusted by any margin debit. To determine value, securities and other
instruments traded on a market for which actual transaction prices are publicly reported shall be
valued at the last reported sale price on the principal market in which they are traded (or, if there

shall be no sales on such date, then at the mean between the closing bid and asked prices on such
date). Other readily marketable securities and other instruments shall be priced using a pricing
service or through quotations from one or more dealers. All other assets shall be valued at fair value
by True North Advisors and in accordance with True North Advisors’ fiduciary duty.
For our financial planning only clients, fixed fees typically range from $2,500 - $6,000 per
engagement, but will vary based on the scope and complexity of financial planning services
required. These fees are typically collected 100% in arrears upon invoicing to the client and are
paid via check, wire transfer, or other payment method deemed acceptable by True North Advisors.
Fees for retirement plan consulting services may consist of asset-based fees or fixed fees as
described above. The specific fee arrangement will vary based on the services requested by the
retirement plan sponsor.
The specific asset-based fee or fixed fee will be set forth in a written investment advisory agreement
entered with the client at the inception of the relationship. True North Advisors has no set account
minimums, but fees are generally not negotiable.
B Fee Payment Policies; Direct Fee Deduction. Asset-based fees are charged to clients quarterly in
advance. True North Advisors will directly deduct its advisory fees from your designated accounts
at the qualified custodian only upon your written authorization for the same. Your authorization
for direct fee deduction will be set forth in our written investment advisory agreement and/or on
the forms required by the custodian of your accounts and shall extend to allow TPAMs (if any
should be engaged) to directly deduct their advisory fees in a similar manner from your account.
For avoidance of doubt, clients bear any TPAM fees separate and in addition to the asset-based
fees charged by True North Advisors. We will first look to cash balances in your account to pay
our fees. If a sufficient cash balance is not available, we will liquidate money market shares before
considering liquidating any other investments to raise the cash necessary to pay fees when due. The
unexpected or premature liquidation of investments to pay our fees may impair the performance of
your account.
Your custodian will independently send you an account statement to you typically monthly, but no
less than quarterly, identifying the amount of funds and each security in your account at the end of
the period and setting forth all transactions in your account during the period, including the amount
of any fees paid to us and/or any TPAMs. Your custodian is not responsible for verifying the
accuracy of our fee calculations. Therefore, we encourage you to review the custodian’s account
statements carefully upon receipt. If you believe our fees have been miscalculated or if there is any
other issue with your account, you should contact us immediately at the phone number listed on
the cover page of this brochure.
For fixed fee projects, 100% of the fixed fee shall be billed upon completion of the project.
C Additional Fees and Expenses. Separate and in addition to our advisory fees, you will also pay
your proportionate share of all management fees and other fund level costs, fees, and expenses
associated with any mutual funds, ETFs, and other pooled investment vehicles held in your account.
You will also pay all usual and customary transaction-based fees (brokerage fees and
commissions), custodial charges, wire transfer fees, TPAM fees, platform and administrative fees,
and other fees and taxes associated with activity and holdings in your account as agreed to within
the account opening agreement of your custodian.

Item 7 – Types of Clients
We provide investment advice to individuals, high net worth individuals, and businesses. Because each
client is unique, they must be willing to be involved in the planning and ongoing processes. Such
involvement does not have to be time consuming, however we want our clients to remain informed and
have a sense of security about their investments. True North Advisors has no minimum account size for
opening or maintaining an account.
