Item 5 - Fees and Compensation
Method of Compensation and Fee Schedule
Financial Planning (Initial Financial Plan)
A fixed fee of $6,000 will be assessed for the Initial Financial Plan. Fifty percent of this fee is due upon
signing the agreement with the balance due at the date of the initial consultation. Our firm can reduce this
fee at our discretion.
Monitoring Program and Annual Planning Reviews
The fee for the Monitoring Program is $7,200 per client, per year, which includes those services discussed
under the Monitoring Program and Annual Planning Review in Item 4. The annual fee is paid in advance at a
monthly rate of $600/month. There may be instances where the fee may be in excess of $7,200 due to
complexity of client’s issues, which will be discussed and agreed upon prior to execution of the engagement.
Under certain circumstances an hourly fee of $250 (referred in a following paragraph) may be charged for
additional unplanned work, and this will be discussed with the client prior to our firm engaging in that

unique service. If the individual client is or becomes a trustee/sponsor of established pension plan, the
annual monitoring program and fee described in the following paragraphs may apply. The firm may, at the
principal’s discretion, waive the requirement for an Initial Financial Plan before providing the Monitoring
service.
Financial Plan Monitoring Service for Other Individuals
Financial plan monitoring services and related fees will vary depending on the complexity of the
engagement; however, the fee is generally $7,200 per year. Fees will be billed in equal monthly installments.
For those individuals not categorized within the professional classification (retired, etc.), meetings may occur
annually or less frequently depending on their financial circumstances;] clients with less complicated
financial plans may find it appropriate to schedule every other year for their meeting, typically at reduced
fee.
Young Professionals Program
Initial financial plan preparation fees will vary depending on the complexity of the client’s situation and
engagement. The initial fee ranges from $5,400 to $7,200, and 50% deposit upon execution of the
engagement agreement. The remaining balance is due and payable at the initial meeting with our firm,
typically within three months after execution of the agreement. For nine months following the initial
meeting a fee of $600 per month will be assessed, that is paid in advance and will cover the 12-month
service period as noted in Item 4. At the discretion of the firm, the entire first year’s fee can be paid over a
12-month period.
Investment Supervisory Services
Clients who have engaged Applewhite & Buys Financial Advisors for its investment supervisory services are
assessed an annualized asset-based fee that will be calculated based on the reporting period ending value
(e.g., last business day of the previous quarter). These fees will be billed quarterly, in advance, per the
following table:
Assets Under Management Annualized Asset-Based Fee
$0 - $999,999 1.00% (100 basis points)
$1,000,000 - $1,999,999 0.75% (75 basis points)
$2,000,000 - Above 0.50% (50 basis points)
Our billing is based on a blended tier. For example, a $1.25 million portfolio would be billed by assessing the
first $999,999 at 1.00%, the remaining amount would be charged at the lower rate of 0.75%.
For the benefit of discounting a client’s asset-based fee, accounts may be aggregated for the same individual
or two or more accounts within the same family, or accounts where a family member has power of attorney
over another family member’s or incompetent person's account. Should investment objectives be
substantially different for any two or more household accounts, and requiring different investment
approaches or operational requirements, the firm reserves the right to apply the fee schedule separately to
each account.
Pension and Retirement Plans
The annual fee for pension and retirement plan trustee advisory services will be billed along with the
monthly charge assessed in the “monthly monitoring and annual planning review program.” Our annual fee
for pension and retirement plan trustee advisory services is $250 and is billed to the plan sponsor (not paid
out of plan assets). The fee for the investment management aspect of the engagement is based on an

annualized asset-based fee of 0.50% (50 basis points) of all plan assets under the firm’s supervision at its
custodian of record. Account valuations will be calculated based on the reporting period ending value (e.g.,
last business day of the previous quarter); billed in advance on a quarterly basis.
Educational Workshops
Workshop attendees may be assessed a per-session fee of $500 per attendee, unless the fee is paid for by
the event sponsor or offered by our advisory firm on a pro bono basis. The fee will be announced in advance
of the workshop and will be determined by the length of the event, the number and expertise of the
presenters involved, in addition to whether or not educational materials are being provided. Fees are due in
full at the beginning of the first session.
Hourly Services
Limited advisory engagements may be conducted on an hourly fee basis. The hourly rate is $250 per hour;
billed in 15-minute increments and a partial increment (e.g., six minutes) may be treated as a whole
increment.
Clients that engage a qualified associate of the firm for tax advice under a separate engagement letter will

Item 7 - Types of Clients
Applewhite & Buys Financial Advisors provides its advisory services to individuals and high net worth
individuals and are available to serve businesses of various scale, as well as their pension and profit-sharing
plans. Our ability to provide our services depends on access to important information about our clients. Our
firm does not require minimum income levels, minimum level of assets or other conditions for the majority
its services. Due to the unique compensation structure involving the combination of fixed and annualized
asset-based fees, our monitoring services strictly involving portfolio management will not be offered for
accounts valued below $25,000. Our firm also reserves the right to waive or reduce certain fees based on
unique individual circumstances, special arrangements or pre-existing relationships. We may also decline
our services to a prospective client for any non-discriminatory reason. |
